Aaron Fink
I am much honored to have been able to serve a second term as President of HGPS from 2011-2013. I had previously been President from 1997-1999. While I am proud of what we have accomplished while I was President and continue to learn about organizations and myself, I do not anticipate a third term. I will remain involved in HGPS, but others deserve the opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
I want to emphasize what we have accomplished, because it was the hard work of our Executive Committee, Board, committee members and Caryn Botes that allowed us to accomplish so much. Our educational programs (i.e. Brown Bags, consultation groups, Institute, workshops, SIG’s, Baylor group training program, Menninger training program) are amazing in their number and quality. We provide an invaluable service to our members and the larger therapy community.
I am also excited about the new look of HGPS. With the help of AGPA, we developed a new logo that better identifies us as part of AGPA. Hopefully other affiliates will follow our lead and also develop logos that are consistent with the AGPA logo. The new logo and website design are both intended to help increase the visibility of group therapy and our organization in the community.
While we did not accomplish my goal of doubling our membership, we did grow from 171 to 218 members. Our members have also been more involved through working on committees and participating in SIG’s.
Thanks again for your encouragement and support. I look forward to working with Linda Chase in my new role as Past President.
